MULTI TOUCH TABLE FOR THE LEIBNIZ ASSOCIATION
MULTI TOUCH TABLE FOR THE LEIBNIZ COMMUNITY
Wegesrand developed a playful multi-touch table application for the eight museums of the Leibniz Association, in which gamers protect museum objects from harmful influences. The fields of action of preventive conservation, the need for protective measures, and the relevance of museum work are made clear. The aim of the project is to arouse interest in the scientific exhibits for the young target group, to create understanding for the special handling of objects in the collection, and to raise awareness of the relevance of conservation and preservation.
The main challenges were not least the heterogeneity of the target group. After all, 8-25-year-olds should be picked up and excited equally. At the same time, it was necessary to find a low-threshold, entertaining introduction to the complex subject matter of the eight different museums. The result is a collaborative game with a fun factor, in which the players slip into the role of “preservers” alone and in a team. The aim is to protect objects from the collections of the research museums against harmful influences, e.g. light, humidity, temperature fluctuations, insects.
